Method

Preparation
  1. Get ready to create some mouthwatering tequeños that will have everyone asking for more!
Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients
  1. Collect all the essentials: flour, cheese (like mozzarella or queso blanco), butter, eggs, and a pinch of salt.
Step 2: Prepare the Dough
  1. In a bowl, mix flour and salt. Melt butter and add it to the flour mixture. Stir in an egg and gradually add water until a soft dough forms.
Step 3: Knead the Dough
  1. On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover it with a cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Step 4: Roll Out the Dough
  1. After resting, roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut it into rectangles, about 3x5 inches.
Step 5: Fill with Cheese
  1. Place a piece of cheese at one end of each rectangle. Roll it up tightly, sealing the edges with a bit of water.
Step 6: Heat the Oil
  1. In a deep pan, heat oil over medium heat. You want enough oil to submerge the tequeños.
Step 7: Fry the Tequeños
  1. Carefully place the tequeños in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
Step 8: Drain and Serve
  1. Remove them from the oil and let them drain on paper towels. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce!
